Affordable housing means spending no more than 30% of monthly income on rent and utilities. In 2025, HUD set the Area Median Income for a Fort Collins family of four at $127,600. Today, housing in Fort Collins is less affordable than it’s been in over 20 years, with rapid growth in Larimer County making the challenge even greater.

Family Housing Network is helping families bridge this gap from homelessness to housing. We plan to purchase 811 E. Myrtle St where we can merge the Offices, Day Center, and the Emergency Overnight Programs into one centralized location. This facility will house up to 30 people (7 families) overnight and an additional 20 people in our Day Center. The funds FHN will need to raise in 2025 will be 2.25 million dollars to acquire this property. Plus an additional fund for maintenance, moving costs, and furnishing each room.

Family Housing Network’s Sherwood House has been a staple for bridge housing in Fort Collins since October 2021. Since then, Sherwood has housed 58 Adults and 88 children for a total of 42 households. As Fort Collins affordability decreases for families, we know this facility will need to remain with FHN to help with housing needs. FHN plans to purchase this home from the City of Fort Collins for $700,000 to secure a sustainable community asset for family homeless services and for the future.
